According to the newspaper, eight Syrians and Iraqis were arrested in an operation carried out by US and French secret services almost simultaneously in the Ivorian capital of Abidjan and in the island of Madagascar, Antananarivo.
In the West African country, a group of Syrians and Iraqis were arrested on 28 July by US intelligence. and Costa-Marfileños, while in Madagascar there were two, one Syrian and another Iraqi, thanks to the work of the French services of the Directorate General for External Security (DGSE).
All of them intended to travel to Europe, one of them through a fraudulently obtained visa to enter Albania.
‘Le Monde’ reported that the group dismantled in Abidjan is suspected of planning an attack on the Paris Olympics last summer, a hypothesis which, according to the newspaper, does not completely convince French investigators.
